Dr. Smita Bhandari has more than twenty years’ experience in Psychiatry across a broad range of clinical settings and offers expertise in both psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. Her practice focuses on delivering evidence-based and highly personalized care toward optimizing psychological well-being.

Dr. Bhandari is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is an active member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Florida Psychiatric Society.

Dr. Bhandari was born in India. She obtained her medical degree from GSVM Medical College in India and completed her residency training at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI where she was elected Chief Resident, in recognition of her many talents and accomplishments.

Dr. Bhandari held a Senior Medical Staff appointment at Henry Ford Hospital and went on to serve as Interim Chief of Service for the Division of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. She served as Clinical Assistant Professor at Wayne State University School of Medicine, and as Adjunct Clinical Instructor at University of Michigan Medical School.

As much as she loves the Midwest, warm weather was a big draw and she moved to South Florida a few years ago, transitioning to a Senior Medical Staff appointment at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Miami Beach, FL, in clinical and academic roles.

Currently, Dr. Bhandari maintains a broad private practice in Miami Beach. As a wellness and integrative psychiatrist, Dr. Bhandari’s approach is nuanced, complex and dynamic; focused on the physical, emotional, psychological, and cognitive wellness of her patients.

In recognition of her significant contributions to the field of psychiatry, she was recently elected as a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, joining an elite group of psychiatrists with this honorary distinction.
